Once more around…

So today was our ‘Super Brick’.  But before I go there, let me  bring you up to speed on the Ironman Wisconsin (IMWI) course (also called IMOO, because that’s what cows do).  So, after the 2.4 mile swim, you ride from downtown out to Verona via the ‘stick’. Then you ride from Verona, to Mt Horeb, to Cross Plains, and back to Verona via the ‘loop’.  Then you go around the loop once more and when you’re back in Verona the second (or fourth time depending on how you count), you ride the ‘stick’ back to the capital when you switch to the run portion.  I won’t even describe the run course to you, as it makes no sense to me.  I tried to run it today, and suffice to say, without someone there pointing at every corner, I took a few wrong turns.  Even worse, during Ironman, that make you run it twice!!  What kind of evil person designed a run course where you run 13 miles right back to the finish line, only you can’t finish….you have to do it all over again.  Bastards.  Not looking forward to that one…

So, back to our Super brick.  So, I did one bike loop, then back via the stick, then one run loop, plus a few extra miles for posterity sake (I took a few wrong turns).  Bottom line was, it felt good.  I felt good.  But I’m glad I didn’t do that second bike loop!  Problem is, I’m not sure if we’re going to have time to do it again in training before race day.  I’d really like to know what it feels like the second time around that loop…I think.  Maybe not. Maybe it’s best if I don’t know!!!
