So it’s been a month…

When I started this journal, I told myself I would write once a week.  But as you can tell, it’s been almost a month since my last post.  Things just got really, really busy as our workouts got longer and longer.  This also led to a few weeks of less than stellar morale, as I just couldn’t fit everything in.

It’s hard when you’re trying to balance training with the rest of your life, but the last few weeks were just crazy.  How does anyone fit in a 4 hour workout on a weekday on top of an 8-5 job?  Sunrise isn’t  until 6, so it’s not like I can go for a bike ride at 3am (not that I would anyway!).  So, I never could fit in all my workouts, and that left me a little down.

Then last weekend I went to Devil’s Lake and swam my first 2.4 miles.  From shore to shore and back!  It was exhausting, but a nice swim.  The scenery is beautiful, and I had a good friend keep tabs on me in her kayak.  then afterwards we went for a hike up to the top of the cliffs, then I rode my bike home.  I’m not sure if it was the heat, or the fact that I was coming down with a cold, but that 45 mile ride was really difficult.  So that didn’t help my confidence either.

Turns out I did in fact have a cold, so that kept me down most of last week.  But yesterday I was able to get in a 55 mile ride and a 3.5 mile run without too much trouble.  But that’s it.  That was the last long workout.  Now it’s taper time.  So that means relaxing and trying to mentally prepare for the race that my body is already physically prepared for.

Less than 2 weeks till Ironman!
